Well, It all began from the music

Waxie G. Joaquin has been a musician since he was 5 years old as he was naturally inclined to music and was heavily influenced by production scores and all kinds of jazz. He started composing his own music at the age of 9. He would compose jingles for radio and TV commercials, musical scores for audio-visual presentations and production music for special events and walk-through presentations.

As the years passed, he developed his skills as a composer and as an arranger. He harnessed his talent and developed his own style of music, breaking away from the Filipino norm of composition. Waxie always had a passion for music as well as passion for the musician.

He has always been concerned with the progress of the Filipino music. And he would contribute against the crab mentality of some songwriters who hinder the quality of their original music and gear their composition to what is marketable to the lower bracket of the masses. He tries to infuse his belief that music is a medium of communication and interpretation. And not manipulated art made for money. He believes that this alone is burying the quality of our music deeper into the ground. He firmly believes in the Filipino talent.

Instead of focusing on the world market they chose to gear their music for profit. What profit will the musicians earn if they focus on the local masses? This is just a fraction of what we musicians can earn if we focus on "World Class music of World-Wide exposure." Love of music will not financially support the musician. And without finances the musician will starve and if the musician is not happy creativity is not present.

Music is not made for the audience. Music is a way to communicate and it is the choice of the listener whether they will listen to what you have to share or not. - Waxie G. Joaquin

Changing the quality, standard and veering from the norm of local music is where Waxie obtains his inspiration and personal drive for his music. After all these years of going with the punches and refusing to put his music out, Waxie finally decides to give it a shot last January 2007. He adjusted his progressive way of composing and started writing songs that would easily be digested by the minds of the Filipino public. Instead of releasing his fusion of jazz and production, he opted to stick with fusion with his own style his own sound.

A fusion of Jazz, Blues, Funk and Country

This special project will only work if the art is performed with no less than experienced musicians. The type of musicians with the passion to work and drive to succeed. - Waxie G. Joaquin

Now, with all this in his head he begins to brand his music and the first and only thing that comes to mind is Jack. A nickname often used to refer to no specific individual. Then he thought what does Jack like? And what doesnt appeal to Jack? And in minutes JACK VERSUS THE CRAB was born.
