BRIEF HISTORY
Cunejo was formed in 1998, Julius, Akmar and Darwin were classmates and members of a high school band in Quezon City. They started performing as a band in their school programs. They covered songs from Green Day, Blur, Rage Against The Machine, Marilyn Manson, Weezer, Oasis, Bush, Parokya Ni Edgar, Eraserheads, Marcy Playground, Wolfgang and The Beatles until they realized that it is a good idea to write their own songs.
Year 2000, they all studied in the same college (Far Eastern University) to continue their rock and roll dreams! But still walang nangyayari, no gigs and no demo tape at all.
In 2003 their former guitarist left the band for some priorities. They changed their music to punk rock and focused more on original compositions. A few months later Akmar introduced Jim Dawat to the band and the band decided to change their name to Cunejo. They practiced their original compositions and finally got the chance to play in many venues such as Mayrics and Big Sky Mind.
2005-2007 were the years of hiatus. After playing in many venues and events for more than a year. Jim left the band to pursue other interests. There were friends who took over the vacancy in the band but it didn't work out. After College, everyone got so busy on their respective day jobs and afterwards tension arose between Julius, Darwin and Akmar because of creative and attitude differences. No one ever knew if the band could still continue.
Mid 2007 Akmar, Darwin and Jim formed a band called "Lost in the Parking Lot" with Lloyd (Akmar and Darwin's co-worker) on vocals. Julius played as a session bass player in many bands such as Cybelle's Robe.
Early 2008 - After the months of a so called "Indefinite break-up" and after realizing that they still want to continue the band. Akmar and Julius talks about re-forming the band and record all the songs they made through the years.
Akmar asked Lloyd to join Cunejo to add spice and vocals to their music without a hint that he will be the perfect guitarist for them. Change of lineup and band members switching instruments – Cunejo, as it is now, plays pop rock, punk, and alternative Pinoy music.
The band has been around and composing over their 13 years of existence, so they have already more than 50 songs composition in the past year and they are planning to release an independent EP/album by the end of 2009!
