I'm a self-confessed INDIErazzi and I'm here for a purpose - delivering amazing music to the masses by blogging about the bands, making them known to the entire world.
Indie, from the word “independent”, is best described as “do-it-yourself”. It is anything clever (because it is creative and stylistic), intellectual (for it can be any art, genre or scene), extraordinary (it is unique from the mainstream culture) and diverse (for its socio-cultural attributes). It is not a genre. It is a state of mind.
Here’s my opinion so far… Indie music opens you to that exceptional noise, that so-alive social life, and it works magic in some ways. I have a list of Baguio bands that I love, the next step is to support and experience those bands in live setting by watching their gigs, keeping up with their online updates and BLOG about them. These, I can say, are the lifeblood of being in the Indie scene. With my level of dedication, expect me to attend anywhere between two to ten gigs a month. Because being able to see these bands live is my crowning achievement. One article I’ve read in a blog even described watching an Indie band play live is like “100 orgasms covered in chocolate set to a Radiohead soundtrack”. LOL.
I can promote and spread the word about these bands, their band members and their music and I will do the best job at it through my website – and yes, for free. Well, independent music marketing doesn't need to be costly. If every independent band out there could only see it in terms of sharing what they are most passionate about, more people will look up to them. I strongly believe that Baguio bands have a strong foundation of good, hard working, creative artists, all of whom back each other up and support each other. That’s the genuine INDIE spirit!
